Eddie Howe says, “I think,” that Newcastle United will probably leave in January once the clause was invoked.

Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, anticipates Isaac Hayden to go on loan once more this month.

After bids to Luton Town and Sheffield Wednesday fell through in the last week of the summer transfer window, the 28-year-old signed with Standard Liege in September.

Although Hayden missed four of the team’s last five games, he went on to make 11 appearances for the Belgian team. Liege announced on Thursday afternoon that Newcastle had triggered a recall provision in a 32-word statement.

It said as follows: “Isaac Hayden’s loan contract recall clause has been activated by the English club. It follows that he will go back to Newcastle. Standard de Liege hopes that Isaac’s future professional endeavors are fruitful.”

It occurs only a few days after Hayden’s brief tenure was described as “inconsistent” by Liege CEO Pierre Locht. Locht told Belgian publication La Derniere Heure (as quoted by Sport Witness): “It’s likely that he won’t come back, definitely.

“We were looking for a guy who could instantly elevate the club. Isaac was a seasoned Premier League player. He is a reliable component and a true number six who can end the game. However, he was perceived by the team as being too unreliable despite his few strong performances.

However, Howe has confirmed that Hayden will be loaned out for the second half of the year, so it seems unlikely that he will be back on Tyneside for very long.

Howe said, “I think Isaac will go back on loan, maybe somewhere else.” “I’m not entirely sure [if a deal is in the works].”

Hayden has drawn interest from Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday, Preston North End, and Plymouth Argyle, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Rafa Benitez signed Hayden in 2016, and he helped Newcastle win the Championship in his debut season. The midfield player, who has 171 matches for United under his belt, did not make the 25-man roster for the second part of the 21–22 season, and his last appearance came in December 2021.
