This month, Leeds United is eager to add a new left-back to its roster, and they have added a fresh player to their shortlist.

On the left side of defence, the Whites now have Junior Firpo and Sam Byram as alternatives, but both have had injury struggles this season.

While Byram has either hobbled off or missed six of Leeds’ last seven Championship games, Firpo missed the bulk of the first half of the season.

In light of this, Daniel Farke stated in mid-December that a left-back is a position that requires attention, and Football Scotland reports that they are interested in a Rangers mainstay.

According to their source, Rangers are eager to keep Barisic at Ibrox, and Leeds is now hopeful of bringing him to England this month, though no decision has been made.

Barisic, a great player for Rangers who is being targeted by Leeds

Barisic is claimed to have already received inquiries from teams in France, Italy, and Spain regarding a pre-contract agreement. Barisic’s contract expires in the summer.

Though he has spent the previous five and a half years of his career with the team, where he has contributed 53 assists in 224 games, Rangers have also made an effort to retain him.

Furthermore, although he has had a stellar overall career with Rangers, he has not always had it easy in Scotland. His performance in a Europa League stalemate with Aris Limassol back in October earned him a “hounding” from the Ibrox crowd.

Barisic was a member of Steven Gerrard’s team that won the Scottish Premiership in 2020–21; Gerrard called Barisic “outstanding” for the duration of that season.

In light of the years of service he has provided, Barisic has shown to be a great value for money, even though he has had some difficult times in Scotland. He signed for just £2 million.

If Leeds can finalise a deal, they will acquire a seasoned 35-cap Croatian international, but there is still much work to be done.
