This month, Leeds United wants to expand their alternatives at right back.

After extending Djed Spence’s loan from Tottenham Hotspur and letting Luke Ayling sign a loan with Middlesbrough, the Whites are currently severely short in that position.

It seems that Leeds is actively searching for a replacement, and they appear to have a shortlist of possible targets in mind, including the Premier League loan market.

Leeds is reportedly interested in Ben Johnson of West Ham United this week, and they also have a lot of love for Neco Williams of Nottingham Forest.

However, it is Burnley’s Connor Roberts who has been the most heavily connected thus far, despite he was afforded 16 minutes off the bench at Turf Moor in a 1-1 draw with Luton Town last night.

After Roberts took over for Johan Gudmundsson in the 74th minute, Burnley had taken a 1-0 lead in their pivotal relegation battle. Carlton Morris’ header in stoppage time, though, meant they had to make do with a point.

Despite playing a few minutes last night, the 28-year-old was not used as a substitute for Burnley during their FA Cup loss to Tottenham last week. It is rumoured that Vincent Kompany is willing to let him go.

Roberts, who already has three teammates from the Wales national team at Leeds, is said to be eager to move to Elland Road before the transfer window closes.

Due to the significance of the match against Luton, Kompany stated in his press conference on Thursday that he would not be considering transfers until afterward.

The fact that Burnley won’t be playing again until January 31 means that Leeds may want to move quickly to acquire Roberts.
