Kosta Nedeljkovic is trying to finalise a transfer from Red Star Belgrade, and Ty Bracey thinks Aston Villa could be able to register him as an academy player.

On Monday, January 15, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted that Villa is getting close to making a €9 million (£7.7 million) bid for the 18-year-old from the Serbian club after spending a “long time” scouting him.

The Serbian right-back, who has played in 18 games this season, will likely stay on loan at Red Star after completing his move to Villa Park, he continued.

Bracey, who has faith in Unai Emery and the scouting team to make the best choices in the transfer market, thinks the defender’s age implies the move might not qualify for FFP.

“I think he’s one for the future,” Bracey stated in an exclusive interview with Villa News. Considering that he has Champions League experience, I believe we might register him as an academy player.

“I’m not entirely sure, but I think we might be able to do that because of his age, which would imply he doesn’t fall under FFP.

“I support them if the manager and the scouting team are saying to go ahead and finish it.

“They have so far made wise decisions, and I wholeheartedly support them.”
