Football Insider reports that Tottenham Hotspur is still working on a “marquee deal” for Conor Gallagher.

They are currently pursuing Chelsea’s outstanding midfield player after already signing Radu Dragusin from Genoa and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig this month.

The article asserts that although Spurs have given up on signing the 23-year-old, they still have a lot of work ahead of them on what seems to be a “complex deal.”

It further says that discussions about a possible move are still ongoing between the teams.

Since the summer transfer window, the North London team has been keeping an eye on the Englishman and hoping to recruit him by August’s deadline. But at that point, the agreement did not come to pass.

Nevertheless, Tottenham is still trying to sign the Chelsea academy graduate. According to recent sources, the player may make a move to Hotspur Way.

Conor Gallagher’s Chelsea contract is expiring in June 2025, and he is in the final 18 months of it.

Gallagher has a price tag from Chelsea, but Mauricio Pochettino is determined to keep him at Stamford Bridge. The manager wants to assemble the team around him and values the contribution he makes to the group.

This season, Pochettino has relied heavily on the England international, who has started all 20 league games for which he has been eligible. In Reece James’ absence, he has also been designated as the captain.

The 23-year-old is highly regarded by Ange Postecoglou, who says he would like to have him in his team. Spurs might find it difficult to pay the transfer cost, but they wouldn’t rule out trying to entice their London rivals’ current captain.
