Champions League group Junior Firpo was tipped to make an unexpected move to Real Sociedad, but it now looks the star will remain at Leeds United based on Fabrizio Romano’s most recent tweet.

Firpo, 27, has been a standout player for Leeds lately. In the Whites’ last three Championship games, he has contributed four assists. He’s in great shape and very energetic. However, that form appeared to draw Real Sociedad’s attention.

According to a story that was released today, Sociedad was thinking about Firpo. Due to Aihen Munoz’s anterior cruciate ligament injury this month, the high-flying Spanish team needs a new left-back.

Kieran Tierney, an Arsenal player on loan, is not Sociedad’s only left-wing option. Firpo might be the man they are after, according to certain claims. However, Sociedad appears to have signed another.

On Tuesday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano confirmed via Twitter that Javi Galan, a defender for Atletico Madrid, is scheduled to have a physical at Sociedad. The Spanish defender is going to be on a straight loan to Atleti.

Updates from Fabrizio Romano indicate that Junior Firpo will remain.

Considering Firpo’s current state, this is a good thing. His recent form has been outstanding, and former Leeds manager Neil Redfearn even said that his performance against Preston was among his best.

Leeds entered the window believing they needed a new left-back. But is it really necessary to sign another while Firpo keeps producing these kinds of forms? Maybe a right-back with dual-purpose ability.

However, Sociedad will not sign Firpo until Galan, who was previously connected to a transfer to Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure, completes his transfer. A contract is imminent, and a medical examination is currently underway.
