With Brighton apparently showing interest in signing Bryan Gil, Tottenham may have the ideal chance to pursue Brighton teenager Evan Ferguson. Spurs haven’t found a long-term successor for Harry Kane, even though Richarlison has played better lately.

Ferguson has a similar profile to Spurs legend Kane and is one of Europe’s most sought-after young stars. This year, the north Londoners are hoping to overcome the intense competition in order to recruit the Irish teenager.

In the upcoming weeks, Brighton could present a great opportunity as they are apparently interested in Spurs outcast Gil. This season, the Spaniard has only played 217 minutes, or two and a half complete games.

Gil is expected to depart Spurs before the January transfer window closes, but he may decide to stay in England, where he is rumored to have many suitors, according to Corrierre dello Sport. According to reports, Brighton is among the teams hoping to recruit the 22-year-old.

Bryan Gil

Gil is reportedly “negotiating” to be loaned to Brentford and Brighton for the duration of the season. It’s unknown if any agreement would obligate or contain an option to purchase the former captain of Spain’s U21 team.

Discussions about Ferguson’s future may become possible if Spurs and Brighton negotiate. Johan Lange, the sporting director, and Daniel Levy may push for a trade in which Spurs acquire Ferguson for a reduced price in exchange for Gil going the other way.

In the unlikely event that it isn’t feasible, Spurs might lend Gil to the South Coast team and continue to have good ties with their Premier League opponents in the hopes that Ferguson will be transferred in the summer. The 19-year-old attacker would undoubtedly be eager to join Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he would be able to succeed in trying to close the significant gap left by Kane.

Brighton’s business model dictates that they will probably demand a substantial fee. They may expect to receive a comparable sum when Ferguson eventually leaves after obtaining a British record £115 million for Moises Caicedo last summer.

Although CEO Paul Barber recently appeared to rule out a January transfer, Spurs will undoubtedly believe they can entice the Ireland international to north London in the near future. Barber told talkSPORT that even with Evan’s extraordinary skill, he still has more to learn in order to become a professional.

“I’m confident that part of the broader plan, on both our and Evan’s parts, will involve letting him go at some point in the future. However, we want to make sure that we give him the finest development

possible in the short term.
