Tottenham vs Brentford was one of the most entertaining games of the season so far.

This game had it all, five goals, a comeback win and a bit of needle between the players too.

As is often the case, Neal Maupay was at the centre of a lot of controversy during this game, as he clashed with James Maddison after mocking his celebration after opening the scoring.

Maupay’s antics didn’t make him all that popular in north London, and speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast, Chris Sutton has laid into the striker for what he did against Tottenham.

Sutton lays into Maupay

The pundit spoke about the Frenchman.

“Neal Maupay couldn’t lace James Maddison’s boots. What is he doing? What an idiot. Everybody knows Maddison is ten times the player Neal Maupay is. Why he did it, I don’t know. You can say it is a bit mischievous but it was foolish. Maddison is Waitrose. Maupay is Lidl.”

Typical Maupay

We don’t have too many controversial characters in the Premier League these days, but Maupay is certainly one of them.

The striker knows how to rile an opponent up, he was a thorn in Arsenal’s side for a long time, and this isn’t the only time he’s mocked another player with a celebration.

Maupay was a bit disrespectful towards Maddison on Wednesday night, but at the same time, it’s only a bit of fun and it’s never a bad thing to have a character like this in the Premier League.
