Willy Gnonto, a star player for Leeds United, may leave Elland Road in the January transfer window to join a Premier League team. The Italian has not started for the Whites since the team’s defeat to Stoke City.
The 20-year-old Gnonto has made 19 appearances for Leeds across all competitions. In addition to declining to participate against Birmingham and Shrewsbury, Gnonto declined to play against West Brom in the August rematch.
His departure from the starting lineup has coincided with the decline in form of Dan James and Crysencio Summerville. Both have performed admirably on the field. There’s a rumored internal power struggle over Gnonto.
There are rumors that Gnonto and Leeds could agree on a new contract, but some people are willing to sell him. Jones has now provided an update on Give Me Sport, stating that there is a problem with Gnonto.
“They would definitely prefer it if he was playing at his best and taking the field, since he ought to be the best player in the division, not just at Leeds. There’s a problem here because he’s not,” Jones remarked.
“It will be intriguing to observe whether a Premier League team approaches him in the hopes of luring him away. That did not seem possible a few weeks ago, but anything can happen.

Gnonto has shown a ton of promise in a Leeds shirt. His goal against Manchester United, his effort against Aston Villa, and his brace in the FA Cup replay victory over Cardiff City all occurred last season, leading to a 5-2 victory.
Gnonto is incredibly talented. A player who merits his caps for Italy. However, he must perform better off the bench to convince Daniel Farke that he deserves to start. James’ performance has declined recently in a few games.
Perhaps Gnonto can start tonight against West Brom in place of James, giving Farke the opportunity to showcase his skills against a team he has previously refused to play against.
