Ivan Perisic, a player for Tottenham Hotspur, has been connected to a departure from the team in recent months.

Due to a catastrophic injury, the 34-year-old utility man is presently out of the lineup and is unlikely to return this season.

Although Mindaugas Nikoličius, the sports director of Hajduk Split, has stated that the club has held talks with Tottenham, it is unclear if a deal can be completed this month. Hajduk Split is desperate to recruit the Tottenham player.

The Croatian transfer window closes in the middle of February, so it will be fascinating to see if the two sides can come to an understanding.

It’s too early; Ivan is harmed. We need to wait and see when he gets better so he can go outside and play,” he remarked (h/t SportSport).

We have the advantage that this transfer window is open till the middle of February. Tottenham and I are in communication, and we will decide what’s best for everyone.

Given that Perisic’s contract with Tottenham expires in the summer of 2024, it would make more sense for the North London team to let him to depart for a little fee rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer.

Under Antonio Conte, the 34-year-old was a vital member of Tottenham’s squad the previous campaign, contributing 12 assists in all competitions. He is a versatile player who can play both wing back and winger. If Hajduk Split is able to sign him, his adaptability will be an extra advantage.

For the player, too, the chance to rejoin his boyhood club will be an alluring offer. But it’s reasonable to suppose that joining his old club would require him to accept a significant pay drop.

The player’s current salary at Tottenham is £180,000 a week, which Hajduk Split might not be able to pay.
