Injury update for Tottenham: Kulusevski and Maddison’s most recent return dates

When they return from the winter break, Tottenham is hopeful about many injury upgrades.

Ange Postecoglou, like James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Manor Solomon, will have plenty of time to heal after a two-week break.

Spurs also had success this past weekend in terms of player fitness, as Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were both able to start the draw against Manchester United. Additionally, the player downplayed a late concern for the Dutchman.

Giovani Lo Celso, Ben Davies, and Alejo Veliz all anticipated to have longer layoffs.

Madison James

Spurs supporters anticipate Maddison’s comeback as the next big boost to welcome Postecoglou’s squad. Maddison has been out since early November owing to an ankle injury.

Prior to the United match, Postecoglou gave an upbeat assessment of the England midfielder, calling him “getting closer” and suggesting that he will be prepared for the Christmas break as he approaches a return to training.

“That depends on when he begins training,” the Tottenham manager said.

“He could start training early [this] week, but you have to see how they feel and how they work with the first squad. I suppose we’ve got three games in that week after the Man City game so I’d hazard to say he should be…”

Possible return date: Friday, January 26, against Manchester City

Dejan Kulusevski

Kulusevski missed the match at Old Trafford due to illness that rocked the Spurs camp last week.

Although Postecoglou said the Swede “went downhill” after training close to the trip, he was “desperate to play” and should be prepared to return following the winter break.

Lo Celso Giovani

Midweek, Spurs lost Lo Celso due to a new muscle issue.

Further testing are scheduled for the player, so the precise diagnosis is still unknown.

Date of potential return: unknown

Solomon Manor

Solomon wants to return for the forthcoming FA Cup match against Manchester City after recovering from knee surgery.

After a three-month hiatus, the 24-year-old hopes to resume training early this week.

Alejo Velliz

After Argentine forward Veliz was substituted out of the New Year’s Eve victory over Bournemouth, Postecoglou announced that the player had sustained a “significant injury.”

The 20-year-old is expected to miss a few months of action even though his knee doesn’t require surgery.

March 2024 is one possible return date.
