Journalist reports that Spurs may now be concentrating all of their efforts on a single transfer target.

According to journalist Dean Jones, Tottenham Hotspur hasn’t found a clear replacement for Conor Gallagher this month in case a deal involving the Chelsea player falls through.

With the manner the Lilywhites have begun the transfer window and shown that they mean business, Spurs supporters are undoubtedly ecstatic.

When asked if he expected the team to make any additional acquisitions this month during his press conference a few days ago, Ange Postecoglou was quite evasive, implying that they will keep searching for openings (Football.London).

The past few days have seen a number of reports indicating that Tottenham is now focusing on Gallagher. According to Football Insider, some sources even state that the North London team is in constant touch with Chelsea regarding a potential deal for the England international.

Spurs are currently only considering Gallagher.

According to Jones, Spurs have finished bolstering their defense for the time being and are now entirely focused on the 23-year-old Blues academy graduate.

The writer told GiveMeSport: “I know that Tottenham are not finished in terms of upgrading their defence but I would not expect them to sign another centre-back this month unless it is one for the future. However, I believe another player of that kind is wanted in the summer.

“If Spurs don’t sign Gallagher, I don’t think they have a specific midfield target to fall back on.” In any case, I haven’t heard of anything solid in that regard yet.

“I think we’ll wait and see how this plays out first because Tottenham believes that this is a great opportunity to grab him should Chelsea make him available, and there’s still a chance Chelsea decides to sell.” A fee would have a starting price of £45 million.

Spurs Views

It is a known fact that Tottenham creates a shortlist of two or three players for every position, and that if a deal for their top target is not possible, they move on to the next player.

Spurs’ continued pursuit of Gallagher indicates that they still think a deal is quite likely to be reached.
