Chris Sutton claims Tottenham could have defeated Manchester United 8-2 if they had a player worth £86 million.

Despite controlling the game, Tottenham and Manchester United drew 2-2 on Sunday at Old Trafford.

For the majority of the game, the North London club outperformed the Red Devils, but a lack of creativity occasionally caused the game to end in a draw.

You can’t really blame Tottenham for their inability to score goals in this game as they were missing most of their main strikers and midfield players.

Chris Sutton, who has been analyzing this game on BBC 606, claims that Tottenham would have thrashed United 8-2 if Harry Kane had been on the pitch.

Sutton gave his assessment on the outcome of this match if the £86 million player had been involved.

“We forget so easily that Harry Kane, Tottenham’s best player, was sold in the summer. With all the goals he scored, you could believe that they would have defeated United 8–2 at Old Trafford if Kane had been present, Sutton remarked.

I missed him.

Tottenham has appeared to actually miss Harry Kane for the first time this season.

Strangely, Spurs has hardly noticed the England captain’s absence in recent months, but on Sunday, it was evident that Spurs were lacking the one player who could make a difference.

In addition to likely having a field day creating his own opportunities from deep, Kane would have finished many of the opportunities that Spurs produced.

Though it’s hard to assume that one player would have had such a significant impact, we can’t help but believe that if Kane had been playing on Sunday, Spurs would have defeated United handily.

Although Spurs don’t often miss Kane, their attacking threat has diminished recently due to injuries and international obligations.
