According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea is now reportedly interested in former Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

Walker-Peters enrolled in the Spurs academy in 2013 and advanced through the organization’s age groups before making his debut under Mauricio Pochettino during the 2017–18 campaign.

The young player left his childhood club in 2020 after Jose Mourinho was hired, having never quite been able to secure regular playing time for the senior Tottenham team.

Since moving to Southampton, the 26-year-old has only gotten better; he has even earned two caps for the senior England team.

Chelsea and Kyle Walker-Peters might move back to London.

The full-back’s decision to stay at St. Mary’s despite Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League last season surprised many, but it now appears like he may return to the league and the nation’s capital soon.

According to TEAMtalk, Pochettino is looking for defensive reinforcements and a reunion with Walker-Peters at Stamford Bridge. The Argentine coach is reportedly drawn to the former Spurs star’s versatility as a left- or right-back.

According to the report, the Saints star and his representatives have discussed a January move to West London with the Blues hierarchy.

Although Southampton is hesitant to allow Walker-Peters depart in the middle of the season, the source notes that Chelsea would only need to make an offer of about £30 million to get him away from the South Coast.

Spurs Views

Walker-Peters would not be sensible to come to Chelsea, in my opinion, as he will not be able to crack the starting lineup once Reece James and Ben Chilwell return to fitness. The allure of collaborating with Pochettino once more and going back to London, though, might persuade the 26-year-old to make the decision.
