Didier Deschamps, the manager of France, claims that William Saliba’s national team performances haven’t “gone well.”

Saliba turned 23 on Sunday. Over the past two seasons, he has established himself as a key member of Arsenal’s defense, forming a strong connection with Gabriel Magalhães.

Although the former loanee of Saint Etienne, Nice, and Marseille was included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year, Deschamps hasn’t given the player consistent starts at the international level, favoring players like Dayot Upamecano.

In spite of Deschamp’s remarks, Saliba is anticipated to play on Tuesday against Chile.

Deschamps stated at a press conference on Monday, “He is having a good season, but he also does things that I don’t like so much.”

“He doesn’t play much for France, but when he does, it hasn’t always gone well. He is here even though the hierarchy does not now favor him. William may have had less playing time than Dayot Upamecano.

“I make sure to stick with some athletes since small obstacles or lack of confidence might change. While some people are worry-free, others require gaming time. William can’t be extremely relaxed because he hasn’t had as much game time.

Saliba’s center-back partner Gabriel, meantime, has complimented his teammate for “understanding” him both on and off the field.

“Our language is the same,” Gabriel said to Stadium Astro. “I speak French, but I’m Brazilian.”

Effective communication is crucial when playing. We are close friends, and occasionally I have to tell him, “Ah Saliba! F*** sake!” He will also say it to me.

It benefits us. Both I and he comprehend each other.”

On March 31, Arsenal and Manchester City will compete for the Premier League title. A number of players, including Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, are hoping to be fit for the big match.
