There’s trouble for the Hammers.

Naturally, the team’s hopes for a drama-free January transfer window were dashed, and in its stead was a mad dash for reinforcements when it became out that star midfielder Lucas Paqueta’s calf injury was more serious than initially thought. After two months of injury, Paqueta returns to the field and is reunited with Jarrod Bowen, making David Moyes’s attackers appear worn out.

There’s trouble for the Hammers.

It seems sense to feel panicked. The Hammers, who are now sixth in the league and top of their Europa League group, rely heavily on their striking tandem with Mo Kudus. Ings’s troubles and Antonio’s persistent injuries stoke the flames, while defense worries linger in the background.

Here comes Marcus Edwards, the English winger for Sporting Lisbon, who is starting to show promise, according to a number of news sources. Edwards is a speedy and skillful goal striker with an outstanding background.

He has accrued 21 goals and 22 assists in 91 games for Sporting since leaving Tottenham in 2019, and he has also played in the Champions League and Europa League. Even against Juventus, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Atalanta, he has scored goals.

Edwards could cover the immediate hole left by Bowen and Paqueta, doubling down on Bowen’s offensive abilities on the other side.

There is ongoing pressure. Is it possible for West Ham to sign Edwards in time to save their season? One thing is certain: the Hammers’ January just got a whole lot hotter. Time will tell.

Edwards is undoubtedly one of the numerous players the Hammers are considering, even though they aren’t close to making any acquisitions just yet.
