Tottenham may be willing to pay £40–50 million for the player because they believe they are the “perfect” fit for a “underappreciated” player.

Spurs name their next acquisition following Werner and Dragusin.

After Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and Radu Dragusin from Genoa signed official contracts, everyone’s focus is on how Ange Postecoglou can bolster his team before the January 31 deadline.

Three players—Eric Dier, Ashley Phillips, and Djed Spence—have left the team on loan, making room for Tottenham to recruit another player.

After securing Dragusin’s transfer, it’s commonly assumed that Spurs are looking for a replacement midfield number eight, and there have been strong connections to Chelsea player Conor Gallagher.

The England international is someone that Tottenham were really interested in last summer, with trusted transfer source Fabrizio Romano backing their “concrete” talks to sign him in 2023.

In regards to Spurs potentially signing Gallagher to GiveMeSport, Romano stated, “I think it is difficult.”

“The truth is, they have always liked Gallagher and have done so since the previous summer. We are aware that Tottenham attempted to negotiate a deal with Chelsea for Gallagher last summer, even on the day of the deadline. Following a long discussion, Chelsea declined. As of right now, I’m not aware of any direct negotiations for Gallagher between Chelsea and Tottenham, but we’ll have to wait and see what transpires in the coming weeks.”

The 23-year-old has been a great player under Mauricio Pochettino this season, earning 19 league appearances as their highest performer by average match rating according to WhoScored.

In addition, he and Cole Palmer are Chelsea’s leading assist producers, underscoring his value as a creative presence and a genuine source of energy in the midfield. In the unlikely event that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg were to leave, Gallagher would undoubtedly be a strong substitute for the Danish player.

Spurs believe they are “perfect” for Gallagher.

In an interview with GiveMeSport this week, journalist Dean Jones provided an update on Tottenham’s prospects of acquiring the player this winter.

If Gallagher were available, it’s thought Spurs would pursue a £40–£50 million deal, and the Lilywhites regard themselves as the “perfect” destination for him.

Jones stated that “Conor Gallagher is a player they have an interest in.”

“They think they are the ideal club for him to end up at, but they find it hard to believe he will actually become available for transfer.”

They would definitely consider it a good offer and make an effort to pursue it if they could acquire Conor Gallagher for between £40 million and £50 million.

“But at the moment, obviously, they have still got the problem – on an emotional level on Conor Gallagher’s side of things.”

The former Crystal Palace loanee has established himself as a valuable top-tier player, and Tottenham might significantly bolster their roster by acquiring Postecoglou.

“Conor Gallagher is the new Mason Mount – a hard-working, homegrown midfielder who is underappreciated by many,” stated Sky Sports Analyst Joe Shread.

“Despite Chelsea’s sporting directors appearing extremely open to selling him in the summer, Gallagher has quickly won the trust of Pochettino with his industry, attitude and quality.”
