Tom Huddlestone has praised Luka Modric, his former teammate at Tottenham Hotspur.

Over the years, Spurs have had some amazing players. Harry Kane and Gareth Bale are two that first spring to mind. Modric is also very much in the mix, and he looked amazing during that training period.

Luka Modric was “incredible” in Tottenham’s training, according to Tom Huddlestone.

Luka Modric was acquired by Tottenham in 2008 for a sum over £15 million from Dinamo Zagreb (Sky Sports).

Although the Croatian was regarded highly at the time, questions were raised about his physicality and ability to adjust to the high-pressure nature of the English game.

However, Modric developed into one of the Premier League’s top midfield players while playing for Spurs, and in 2012, he was able to secure a £30 million transfer to Real Madrid (BBC).

When Modric was signed, Tom Huddlestone was already at Tottenham. This week, he disclosed that the Croatian’s talent was immediately apparent during their first training session together. The same thing was mentioned by Aaron Lennon a long ago.

“You look at him and you think you can throw him off the ball or lads out-run him and stuff like that, but his first touch was exactly where he wanted every single time; he never used his left foot but the outside of his right foot was ridiculous,” Huddlestone said in reference to Modric on talkSPORT.

“I was present when he got there. While some of the things he was doing in training were amazing, the conventional British approach of saying, “He’s only little, so we’ll stick him on the left wing or play him as a number 10,” was applied. This was fine because he could play wherever.

“But he just went to a different level once you played him as one of those two deeper midfielders and he’s controlling the tempo of the game.”

Among the best of all time is Modric.

Even though Luka Modric was already well-known when playing for Tottenham, his stardom skyrocketed when he joined Real Madrid in 2012.

The Croatian’s first season in Spain wasn’t the best, but he has improved greatly since. There, he has already won 23 trophies, five of them are Champions League championships.

Modric has also achieved a lot on his own. He was the recipient of the Ballon d’Or, the FIFA Best Player of the Year award, and the UEFA Best Player in Europe award back in 2018.

Modric’s four years of Tottenham performance make him one of the finest midfielders in history, and the team is fortunate to have had him.
