Eddie Howe may have at least one player returning from injury for Saturday’s match between Newcastle United and Luton Town.
Only a few days after Newcastle was heartbrokenly eliminated from the Carabao Cup, the Magpies play the Hatters in what has to be seen as a potential banana peel.
Newcastle’s injury list grew during their loss to Chelsea as well. Anthony Gordon was substituted off the pitch following a rough tackle by Moises Caicedo. Emil Krafth had to be replaced as well because of an injury.
Eddie Howe’s injury problems are still present, but according to a recent source, one player may return this weekend at Kenilworth Road.
Alexander Isak might make a comeback on Saturday against Luton Town.
Alexander Isak might be eligible for Newcastle United’s matchup with Luton Town, per the Chronicle.
The 24-year-old hasn’t played for Newcastle in the past two matches, despite Howe’s suggestion that he might play against Stamford Bridge.
That did not occur; instead, Isak took a nap.
However, the Chronicle think that a victory this weekend is possible, which would be a tremendous encouragement. Callum Wilson, who is 31 years old, has been a lifesaver for the Magpies lately, starting three straight games. For a man who recently returned from a hamstring injury and has a history of fitness problems, it is a lot of football.
Isak has to recover to full fitness immediately for Newcastle.
It’s great to hear that Isak might make a comeback on Saturday because Newcastle needs strikers who are both available and healthy. Given how lacklustre his previous performance in a Toon shirt was, hopefully he is back to full shape.
Isak entered the game against AC Milan in the Champions League with the intention of turning things around for the Magpies. He was obviously not at full fitness, though, and as a result he was unable to make the desired impact on the game.
However, he is among the top attackers in the Premier League when healthy. He is “frightening,” to use Kieran Trippier’s words.
Hopefully, he returns this weekend, as the prospect of Wilson needing to play another ninety minutes is daunting.
