Newcastle United needs to strengthen their roster in January, but Eddie Howe hasn’t heard from the board about whether he will have the money to make those purchases.

Due to the Financial Fair Play danger, the Magpies are working with a limited budget, which continues to influence their decision-making in the transfer market, even if they still need to add two or three players.

The team’s injury list is quite long, and they are finding it extremely difficult to meet the league’s physical requirements. The Magpies need to make a bid for Argentine striker Giovanni Simeone since they will most likely recruit players on loan.

Premier League clubs may be on high alert if Simeone decides to leave Napoli during the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports (transfer live page, 4:26 pm).

The article names Newcastle United and West Ham as the two teams that had previously expressed interest in acquiring the 28-year-old, who has played on loan or permanently for up to seven different teams.

According to Sky Sports News, Simeone intends to request a release during his upcoming meetings with his team. The Magpies have a great chance to try and get him to St James’ Park on loan or at a reduced fee.

The Argentine international has mostly served as Victor Osimhen’s cover, but he has consistently performed well when needed. He has only managed four times this season across all competitions, and he has had a very restricted amount of playing time.

Simeone led Napoli win the Scudetto last season with a number of clutch goals, but it seems he wants to go on and join a team where he will play regularly. Despite having over two years remaining on his present contract, he has made the decision to move on.

The Magpies can afford to bolster their attacking line, but their primary priorities are bringing in a new goalkeeper and a good central midfielder. If the Magpies decide to move for Simeone, he could be a useful option.
